Frances M Keene

Frances M. Keene, 97, of Seneca St., Oneida, passed away on Friday morning, January 17, 2025, at her daughter's home under the care of Hospice. She was born on March 3, 1927, in Gilbertsville, NY, the daughter of Stanley G. and Rachel Cloe (Head) Lum. She attended schools in Gilbertsville. On October 25, 1947, Frances was united in marriage to Harry L. Keene in Sherburne. Harry passed away on September 22, 1999. Frances was employed in the cafeteria of Oneida City Hospital for eleven years, retiring in April of 1988. Frances's greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are four children, Linda Welch, of S. New Berlin, Larry (Harriett) Keene, of Silver Lake, NY, Donna Keene (John DeGroat), of Oneida, and Cindy (Bruce) Betsinger, of Oneida; seven grandchildren, Marie (Daniel) Sheldon and their children, Ben and Dawn, John (Pam) Welch, Larry Keene, Shane-Thomas Nodine Jr., (Susanne Schawb), Kendra (Daniel) Foote Jr., and Sabrina Betsinger (Mike Nageldinger) and their daughter, Riley; her great great-grandchildren; her siblings, Alice Nichols, of S. New Berlin, and Walter (Mary) Lum, of Bridgewater; a brother-in-law, John Simmons, of Chittenango. Frances was predeceased by her son, Harry Benjamin Keene in 1978; a daughter, Dale Keene on August 19, 2023; her sisters, Janice Simmons, Katherine Dugan, Mary Welch; her brothers, Theodore, Ike, Thomas, and Keith Lum. Graveside services will be held in the spring in Waterville Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
