John Roat Obituary

In Loving Memory John D. Roat March 3, 1932 - February 16, 2025 CAMDEN, NY - John DeForest Roat, 92 of Camden, New York, went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2025. John was born the son of Harold Roat and Edith (Ballard) Roat on March 3, 1932, in Nanticoke, New York. John was a graduate of Vestal High School. John married the love of his life Marilyn Barton on November 23, 1950. John was a Korean War Veteran being drafted to the Army in 1952. Together John and Marilyn owned and operated a Dairy Farm and raised six cherished children. John and Marilyn were members of the Nanticoke Baptist Church where John served many years as a trustee. John was also the Town Supervisor of Nanticoke for 24 years. Deer hunting was something John enjoyed doing throughout the years. In 2005, John and Marilyn moved to Camden to be closer to their family. He especially loved spending time with his family, his children, and his grandchildren. John is pre-deceased by his parents; and his three sisters, Eva Roat, Dorothy Hafey and Gladys Winchell. He is survived by his six children, Ronald Roat, Donna (Richard) Shrauger, Becky (Steve) Little, Linda (Mark) Riley, Nancy (Kevin) Witzigman and James (Karen) Roat, along with 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Spring burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Camden, NY. Arrangements are in care of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, Camden, NY.
