Joseph P. Casella

ONEIDA- Joseph P. Casella, 68, Elizabeth Street, died Saturday afternoon, October 4, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving wife and son, following an extended illness. Born in Oneida, on May 2, 1957, he was the son of Sam F. and Mary Corbacio Casella. A lifelong resident of Oneida, with exception of his military duty, Joe was a graduate of St. Patrick's School, Oneida High School and Oswego State College, where he received a degree in business administration. He married Veronica Abenido in St. Patrick's Church, on September 14, 1991. Joe served with the United States Navy, retiring with twenty years of service, and then was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for fifteen years. He was a communicant of the former St. Patrick's Church, always made his family as his top priority, enjoyed fishing, golf and was a sports fan, especially the Yankees and New York Giants. Surviving are his loving wife, Veronica; his daughter, Stephanie Casella of Portland, Oregon; his son, Jospeh M. Casella of Oneida; his four sisters, Mary (Richard) Chabot of Annadale, Virginia, Rosemarie Day of East Syracuse, Anne Louise (Robert) Fernbach of Dunedin, Florida and Lori (Steven) Blair of Oneida; two brothers, Dr. James F. (Emily Barron) Casella of Baltimore, Maryland and Dr. Samuel J. (Mary) Casella of Gratham, New Hampshire; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside funeral services, with full military honors, will be held 1PM, Wednesday, in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
