Lawrence Chase Obituary

Lawrence (Larry) D. Chase, 90, of Boonville, passed away peacefully June 18, 2025 with family by his side. Born in Fall River, MA, Larry was raised in Fall River then Weymouth, MA, before heading off to his undergrad at Cornell University and obtaining his law degree from Syracuse University. Larry married Jane Durnin of Shelter Island, NY, and they moved to Rochester, NY, where he practiced law for many years serving clients honorably. Together he and Jane had four sons. Following the end of his prior marriage, and while practicing law in Rochester, Larry met Joan Mitchell from Watertown, NY. The two were introduced by a mutual dear friend. They fell in love and soon became husband and wife. The two were married on July 12, 1992, and lived in Penfield until they retired. Joan and Larry returned to her roots and together built their dream house in the town of Boonville. This experience enriched and extended both of their quality lives together. Larry was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Moses Chase, his sisters Ann (John) Doudney, Carol (Eugene) Rudy, son Thomas (Melissa) Chase, and his loving wife Joan Mitchell Chase. He is survived by his sons Doug Chase of Rochester, NY, Michael (Daniela) Chase of El Macero, CA, and James (Vanessa) Chase of Bristol, RI, as well as his stepdaughters Bonnie Levesque of Forestport, Georgianna (Joseph) Feller of Boonville and Tama (Robert) Lunceford of Nashville, TN. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren Amelia Chase, Lawrence Chase, Antonio Chase, Harris Chase, Abigail Chase, Olivia Chase, Chris Chase, Amy Pisano, Joshua Levesque, Devin (Gina) Levesque, Rally (Asia) Colton, Daniel Standford, Stephanie (Bishop) Bowie, Christopher (Stephanie) Lunceford, and Jesse (Mary) Lunceford-Levesque. Larry was a kind, wise and strong-willed man that had influence and positive impact that will carry forward for generations of his family, and others he connected with during his life. Per his wishes no official services are planned, but in the spirit of their love of dogs, if you wish, donations may be made to the Boonville Dog Pound. Please send donations to Boonville Municipal Offices, Attention: Craig Jenks, 13149 State Route 12, Boonville, NY 13309. Be sure to designate the dog fund in the memo of your check.
