Melissa A. Anderson

ILION– Melissa A. Anderson, 60, passed away surrounded by family on August 18, 2025, at MVHS Wynn Hospital, Utica. Melissa was born on January 8, 1965, in Ilion, a daughter of Margaret Kelly and the late Bernard Stanley. She graduated from Richfield Springs Central School and later furthered her education at HCCC where she received an associate degree. On May 18, 1985, Melissa was united in marriage with Frank C. Anderson in Richfield Springs. Mrs. Anderson enjoyed her time as a CNA at the Presbyterian Home and driving buses for the ARC. She was last employed as a customer service representative at Maximus for the West Virginia Department of Human Services. Melissa cherished spending her time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and was an enthusiastic NASCAR & Dallas Cowboys fan. Survivors besides her husband of 40 years, Frank, include three children, Lee Anderson of Ilion, Britney Anderson of Rochester, and Deavon Anderson (CJ) of Ilion; two step-daughters, Shannon Ropeter of Little Falls and Joy Morgan of Yadkinville, NC; four sisters, Christine Martin of Richfield Springs, Michelle Kelly of Kennett Square, PA, Tracy VanTassel of Springfield Center, and Carrie Girona of Batton Rouge, LA; two step-sisters, Vicki Fassett of East Springfield and Kristi Swatling of Fly Creek; 11 grandchildren, Declan, Bentley, Derrick, Felicity, CJ, Carsen, Tyler, Noah, Jocelyn, Cynthia and Lester Jr., a great-grandson, Braxton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Melissa was predeceased by her father, Bernard Stanley. A celebration of life will take place at the West Winfield VFW Post #2338, 752 US Highway 20, West Winfield, NY 13491, on Sunday, August 31, 2025, starting at 2:00 pm.
