Phyllis J. Moffatt

TOWN OF OHIO – Phyllis J. Moffatt, 92, of State Route 8, passed away on February 12, 2024 after a brief stay at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. Mrs. Moffatt was born on January 24, 1932 in Herkimer, the first daughter of the late Francis and Daisy (Larkin) Young. She received her education in the Middleville Schools. On October 12, 1950, Phyllis was united in marriage with Erney E. Moffatt in Herkimer. The couple were caretakers for the Wilmurt Lake Club in Hoffmeister for over 30 years. She was the cook for the lake and everyone loved her Fourth of July buffets and her delicious homemade strawberry short cake. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Erney E. Moffatt, Sr. in 2013. Her siblings, Sharon Camardello, Duane Young, Dale McCaw, Darlene Reynolds, Francis "Pat" Young, Sherry Lynch, Joleen George, and Charice Young. Phyllis was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and always had a positive outlook on life. She enjoyed vacations with her husband, especially to the ocean, digging for old vintage bottles, playing games on her computer and having yard sales. She also had a wonderful collection of salt and pepper shakers and small pitchers. She is survived by her loving family which include one daughter, Cindy McVoy of Poland; two sons, Erney Moffatt, Jr. and Lauri LaComb of the Town of Ohio, and William Moffatt of Herkimer; one grandson, Luke Moffatt of the Town of Ohio; two granddaughters, Sara Christensen, and Katie (Blake) Anderson all of Utah; six great-grandchildren, Kanyon and Ridge Christensen, and Mason, Logan, Carson and Owen Anderson; four sisters, Jill Young and Dawn Kucerak both of Herkimer, Terry Kondratowicz of Mohawk, and Ronnie (Frank) Daubach of Herkimer; three brothers, Jack Young of Ilion, Darrell "Jim" (Patricia) Young of Little Falls, and Neil Young of Herkimer; and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with Phyllis's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Spring inurnment will take place in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Little Falls.
