Geraldine Langworthy Obituary

Geraldine Lucille Sams-Campbell Langworthy, age 81, of rural Crawfordsville, passed away at 1:44 PM Wednesday, May 21, 2025 in Franciscan East Lafayette Hospital. She had courageously battled cancer the past few years. She was born in Crawfordsville April 22, 1944, daughter of the late Orville and Ruth Harwood Sams. She was adopted and raised by her sister's husband's parents Harry and Beulah Campbell and they preceded her in death. She married Ronald Wayne Langworthy in Liberty Chapel Church December 4, 1976 and he preceded her in death September 2, 2009. Geri attended Griffith High School and was a graduate of the former Regis Beauty Academy in Crawfordsville. In the 1970's she worked as a beautician. She then began driving a school bus for North Montgomery Schools which became her passion. She was also employed in the Transportation Department at North Montgomery Schools. She always was the first driver to volunteer transporting students, athletes, band, FFA teams to events. With her own children involved in activities, it was a great fit for her to drive the bus, because she seldom missed an event they were involved in. Geri and Ron were active members of the former Elmdale Community Church and the Montgomery County Sheep Producers Association. Geri was known for the cole slaw she made for the Sheep producers food stand at the county fair. She also supported the band boosters fund raiser often making her famous Italian Beef and Chili. She was an involved, loving and supportive mother. Surviving are her two children: a daughter; Amanda (John) Augustine of Saraland, AL formerly of Westfield, IN and son; Neil (Sarah) Langworthy of rural West Point. Grandchildren: Owen and Finnegan Langworthy & Skylar and Jack Augustine. She was preceded in death by her parents, adoptive parents, brothers; Darrell Sams and Newtown Campbell. Sisters; Norma Jean Campbell and Dotie Karshner. Visitation hours are 5:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, May 26, 2025 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.
