Marilyn Clark Obituary

"She is clothed with strength and dignity." Marilyn M. (Sanders) Clark of rural Mulberry, Indiana passed away on July 13, 2025. She was born on March 18, 1934 to the late Merrill M. and Thelma M. (Cox) Sanders. Marilyn married the late Harold N. Clark, Jr. on June 8, 1952. They were married over 72 years at his passing and had resided in the same home together for over 70 years. Marilyn was a graduate of Dayton School and retired after 30 years from State Farm Insurance where she became the first female underwriter in Fire Company. Marilyn often said her family was her most precious gift and many of her favorite activities centered around family get-togethers which included making authentic costumes for her great-grandchildren and attending the Feast of the Hunter's Moon in the fall along with hayrides and weiner roasts. Marilyn was also known for her annual Christmas letters keeping friends and family updated on all activities of her many great grandkids. On Christmas Eve she would make sure her increasing number of "Greats" received new pajamas, which most wore home afterwards. She was also known for giving Gooseberry cookbooks every year, which she loved to read through like a novel. Marilyn loved traveling to Michigan with friends and family for annual snowmobile trips in the winter, and also camping trips on weekends in the summer. After retirement she and Harold enjoyed antiquing, bus trips, and raising herefords which she loved to name as she was somewhat of a poet too when she put her thoughts down on paper. In her younger years she enjoyed water skiing where she would slalom, always getting up on the first try. As a mamaw she tried to pass on her love of horses and planned horse riding experiences for her "Greats", and kept a saddle on a stand so they could climb on and play cowboy with their lasso, cowboy hat, boots, and holsters. Outside she had a playhouse built where they could host tea and garden parties. Marilyn collected Hummels and Tasha Tudor books. She also was a member of DAR and Eastern Star and participated in Toastmasters with much success while employed at State Farm. She also was a member of the Mulberry Federated Round Table and Junior Women's Club. Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Minth and Kathy (Jim) Ramsey; sister, Judy (Bill) Orth; brother, David (Rosie) Sanders; five grandchildren, Julie (Todd) Kifer, Tracey Beck, Ashley (Aaron) Selke, Adam (Katie) Minth, Jordan (Christina) Minth; eighteen great grandchildren, Caleb (Mia) Kifer, Eli Kifer, Emma Grace Kifer, Evalynn Kifer, Hallie (Ethan) March, Hannah Beck, Faith Beck, Laura Beck, Elsie Beck, Cayde (Emma) Selke, Cordon Selke, Cavin Selke, Caisley Selke, Ava Minth, Khloe Minth, Nora Minth, Brynlee Minth, Emersyn Minth; and her first great-great grandchild, Esther Kifer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold N. Clark; and sister, Virginia Daugherty. The family will hold a private graveside service at Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens on July 21, 2025.
