Sharon Taylor Obituary
Sharon Dell Horath Taylor, age 69 of rural Wingate, passed away unexpectedly at 10:57 PM June 19, 2025 in Franciscan Health Lafayette Hospital. She was born in Danville, IL April 18, 1956 daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Clara Lucille Strater Horath. She married Jack Alan Taylor in Lafayette July 28, 1984 and he survives.
Sharon was a 1974 graduate of Benton Central High School and following graduation proudly earned her certification as a Medical Assistant. She was employed by Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation for several years. She was then employed by Farm Bureau Insurance for ten years. Sharon and Jack moved to the rural Wingate community in 2018.
Sharon loved her grandchildren and family and was always there for them! She had recently finished a cookbook for her grandchldren with their favorite recipes. She enjoyed crafts and cooking, especially for her grandchildren. Sharon was a sassy soul and lived with diabetes since she was 13 and was considered a Diabetic Warrior. Over the past 5 years she endured her health issues with dignity and grace.
Surviving along with her husband Jack are: a daughter Nicole (Josh) Carrell and their children Jaxon and Everleigh of rural Waynetown. Siblings; Joyce Compton of Danville, IL, Charles 'Bud' (Merita) Horath of Williamsport, Cathy Bogdas of Sarasota, FL, Janet Richter of Danville, IL, Fred Horath of Attica and Linda Searcy of Attica. Sister-in-law Cindy (Gary) Coffenberry of Mace, IN. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding her in death are her parents, sisters; Patricia Richter, Evelyn Black, Norma Easter and Marilyn Moore, a nephew Billy Anderson.
Visitation hours are 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2025 with funeral services following at 7:00 PM with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiation at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Graveside services with inurnment at Rest Haven Cemetery Memorial Park, Lafayette, 10:00 AM Thursday, June 26, 2025. Memorial contributions are preferred to American Kidney Foundation. Sharon's family expresses special gratitude to Dr. Sudha Rani of Lafayette Kidney Care, who went above and beyond in her care of Sharon.
