Ann Josephine Pytka Paulhus

SMITHFIELD – Ann Josephine Pytka Paulhus, 81, of Smithfield, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Leopold "Leo" Paulhus.

Born in Central Falls on August 2, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Josephine (Sydor) and Ignace Ptyka of Central Falls.
Mrs Paulhus graduated from Central Falls High School in 1954 and attended Tabbard Hubbard Business School. She worked for the City of Central Falls School Department for 10 years and the Finance & Tax Assessor's Office for 16 years.

She was actively involved in the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for VFW Post #1271 for over 35 years, serving as president for four of those years. She was a patriotic instructor for the Department of RI Ladies Auxiliary. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary to Post #14 American Legion in Cumberland and a post president for District #5 VFW.

She also served as past president of the Margaret I. Robertson School PTA of Central Falls.

She volunteered her time and worked on the committee for the Central Falls Veterans Memorial Monument.

During her high school years she was employed at Hassenfeld's and with Drs. Mitchell and Joseph Sack, dentists.

She is survived by her children Christina (St Pierre) Wildenhain and her husband Keith; Joanne (St Pierre) McLoughlin and her husband John, and Lisa (Paulhus) Blackmon and her husband Jeff.

She was the sister of Winnie DeQuatro of Cumberland, Eugene Pytka of Cumberland, Albert Pytka of Seekonk, Walter Pytka of Lincoln and the late Patricia Goudreau of Central Falls; Ernest Pytka of Houston, Texas; Vera Dark of Coventry; Steven Pytka of Cumberland; and Stephanie Burns.

She leaves six grandchildren, Jessica (Wildenhain) Polak, Rebecca (Wildenhain) Williams, Christopher McLoughlin, Michael McLoughlin, Brayden Blackmon and Wyatt Blackmon. She leaves four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Polak, Ryan Polak, Stella Williams and Samuel Williams.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave, Lincoln. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, 359 Daggett Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02861.
