Arlene Dalpe Obituary

STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT - Arlene Hope (Lincoln) Dalpe, 95, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 3, 2022 at Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford Springs, CT. She was born at home in Blackstone, MA, daughter of the late Arthur H. and Charlotte J. (Wood) Lincoln. She lived there for 29 years until she married her beloved husband, Kid, on August 13, 1955, and then relocated to Bellingham, MA. She subsequently moved to Stafford Springs in June, 2015 to be near her many nieces and nephews and their families.

Arlene was employed by the U.S. Rubber Co. in Woonsocket, RI for 25 years as a Production Specialist. She had many stories of her and her sister, Ellen, working during the WWII years when their factory made various rubber products to support our troops. They made such products as rafts, pontoon bridge sections, blimps and even inflatable rubber tanks that were used as decoys by a top secret unit called "The Ghost Army". She later worked 15 years for the Hasbro Toy Company as an assembler. She was also proficient in woman's sports as she competed in softball, basketball and bowling within the Woonsocket Industrial Woman's Sports League.

Arlene is survived by her sister-in-law, Joan F. Lincoln of Ellington, CT; 13 nieces and nephews and their spouses/companions, Lincoln and Shirley Champagne of Middletown, CT, Leroy and Sheryl Champagne of Enfield, CT, Leonard Champagne of Stafford Springs, CT, Lyle Champagne and Elaine Morcone of Mechanicville, NY, Ellen Hipsky of Willington, CT, Leigh and Terry Conklin of Portland, OR, Lloyd and Jody Champagne of Stafford Springs, CT, Lee Jay and Christine Champagne of Enfield, CT, Dee Champagne of Tolland, CT, Arthur and Vicki Lincoln of Clermont, FL, Debbie and Philip Smith of South Windsor, CT, Elizabeth and Charles Ambrosetti of Manchester, CT, and Susan and Michael Salwa of Ellington, CT; and many other dear family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilrose Kid, to whom she was married for nearly 50 years; her stepdaughter, Gertrude Gretchen Berthold; sisters, Ellen N. (Champagne) Moulton and Charlotte L. O'Neill; and two brothers, Arthur H. Lincoln, Jr. and Harry E. Wood.

Arlene loved to spend time with her family, read her newspapers and books, complete crossword puzzles and go to the Casino. She especially enjoyed her bus trips to Foxwoods with her lifelong friend, Ann Bis and several bus trips to Atlantic City with family and friends. Her favorite meal was lobster and she had a special fondness for all kinds of chocolates and cookies. She will be remembered for her simple kindness and her wonderful sense of humor. She is leaving us with countless memories of good times and many laughs.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at the Stafford Housing Authority for all their help and support, with special thanks to Ann Marie Perrone and Caroline Bill.

In addition, the family wishes to thank all the hardworking nurses and staff that cared for Arlene over the past six months at the Evergreen Health Care Center and Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs CT.
