Barbara E. Smyth

MILLVILLE, MA - Barbara E. Smyth, 90, formerly of Quaker St. died Thurs. April 8, 2015 in Woonsocket Health Ctr.
Miss Smyth was a secretary at AMICA Mutual Insurance Co. in Providence, RI for 37 years, retiring in 1979 as an Officer. She later worked in the admissions office at Bryant College in N. Smithfield, RI for 13 years, retiring in 1995. She also served as Town Treasurer for the town of Millville for several years. She also assisted the town's Assessor and Tax Collector.
Miss Smyth was born in Millville, the daughter of the late Stanley and Florence (Dresser) Smyth and had been a lifelong resident of Millville. She graduated from Blackstone High School in 1942, class Valedictorian, and then attended Worcester State Teacher's College in Worcester.
Miss Smyth was a member and former treasurer of the Deborah Wheelock Chapter of the Daughter's of the American Revolution in Uxbridge and was the former assistant treasurer of the Massachusetts State Daughter's of the American Revolution for 3 years. She was a member of the Unitarian Church of Uxbridge and was an avid golfer.
Miss Smyth is survived by one brother Stanley A. Smyth Jr. of Uxbridge and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Alan D. Smyth Sr.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wed. April 22, 2015 at 11 AM in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Mendon St., Rte. 16, Uxbridge, MA.
