Celeste L. Ramos

CUMBERLAND - Celeste L. (DaNave) Ramos, 97 of Cumberland passed away Monday, December 11, 2017. She was the wife of the late Anibal Cabral Ramos. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Amadeau and Ana (Lopes) DaNave. She went to Portugal as a young girl where she met her husband and had four children. In 1959 she returned to America with her family, and remained very proud of her America citizenship and Portuguese heritage.
Celeste was employed as a braider-tender for the Hope Webbing Company in Pawtucket for many years. She resided mostly in Cumberland for the last several decades.
She loved to go on long walks and tend to her garden, but more than anything she enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves her children, Antonio "Tony" Ramos and his wife Ann Marie of Bristol, Al Ramos and his wife Carol of Cumberland, Jacqueline Teer with whom she resided, and Emily Ramos of East Providence; her siblings, Armando DaNave of New Jersey, Maria Coelho of North Providence, Joaquim DaNave of Lincoln, Antonio DaNave of Seekonk; her late siblings Emilia Silva, Amadeau DaNave, Zulmira Baptista, Valentin DaNave, Manuel DaNave; her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10AM on Saturday, December 16 from the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 15 from 5 to 8PM.
