Constance Gauthier Obituary

WOONSOCKET - Constance M. "Connie" Gauthier, 81, of Woonsocket died Wednesday March 23, 2016 at home.
Born and raised in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Wilfred J. and Lauretta Rose (Jarry) Gauthier. Connie was a graduate of Woonsocket High School Class of 1952.
In her early adult years she lived in New York City. She later returned to Woonsocket and resided in the city for most of her life.
Connie had a number of interesting careers during her life including a stint as a private detective. Locally she was employed by the Woonsocket School Department at the McFee Administration building for a number of years.
Currently Connie was the chairwoman of the Woonsocket Personnel Board serving since 2006 and was reappointed to that position by the past several mayoral administrations. She was a competent and fair person who served her city well.
Connie volunteered her time for several area organizations including the Over 50 softball league.
Connie's signature hallmark was her zest for life. She traveled extensively including recently to India. Over the past 10 years she took music lessons and learned to play piano. Connie had a special place in her heart for animals especially her late dog "Oliver Ra".
A "live in the moment person" Connie left a lasting legacy of love and happiness on the lives of those she touched.
She was the sister of the late Wilfred M. Gauthier and is survived by her nieces and nephews Leo Gauthier of Texas, Mark Gauthier of CT, Wilfred Gauthier Jr. of Burrillville, Sandy Lee Paul of North Smithfield (and her son Tyler Lahousse) and Danielle Fallone of Burrillville.
A memorial service in celebration of Connie's life will be Friday at 7:00 pm in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 pm prior to the service. Burial will be private. 3 years have passed. Remember hearing the sad news, like it was this morning. Connie was my Moms childhood friend, which lasted well over 50plus years. She was a spitfire, with a heart of gold. I will always remember you Connie, with WONDERFUL MEMORIES and MUCH LOVE IN MY HEART.
Continue to watch over all of us and give my Mom a big hug and kiss.
Will love you forever.

Never had the pleasure of meeting this extraordinary woman but was moved by the ProJo article to learn a little more about a life so well-lived. May her spirit continue to bless her family, neighbors, friends, and community.

Connie was a fun person! She will be missed! Met her years ago when she had a ceramic shop near Chan's! She would come in and liven up the restaurant with her humor! She made us all smile!

The C in Connie stood for "Carpe Diem."

My memories of Connie revolve around the connections we had involving her love and joy of learning more about playing her Lowrey organ and interacting with others.

She regularly attended weekly lessons and many additional meetings and parties at 'Keys to Fun' in Johnston, RI.

I first met her at an Organ Camp. She was 79 or 80, yet full of life, wore a jaunty cap, had recently visited India (alone!) and drove a sports car.

Connie was inspiring: she always had a smile, exuded warmth and participated joyfully with all.

She left us with a template about how to make the most of the years and the opportunities we have to live our lives.

Thank you Connie.

With love and admiration,
