David H. Debatis Jr.

1936 - 2017

BELLINGHAM - David H. Debatis, Jr., 80, of Bellingham, MA passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
He is the beloved husband for 57 years of Paulette H. (Ethier) Debatis. Born in Woonsocket, RI on August 14, 1936, he is the son of the late David H. and Marcelle (Viger) Debatis, Sr. He is the loving father of David H. Debatis, III of Bellingham, MA, Lise Y. Baker and her husband, Kevin of Hopkinton, MA, Monique D. Killion and her husband, Dan of Bellingham, MA and Michele I. Debatis-Killion and her husband, Tim of Bellingham, MA. He leaves his cherished grandchildren Kylie, Kelsey, Danny, Emily, Katie, Zoey, Ana and great-grandson Garin. He is the brother of Renee Lecoq and her husband, Albert of Colorado and the late Andre Debatis and Yvette Dortel.
He was a United States Army Veteran serving 1954 - 1956.
A resident of Bellingham since 1965 formerly of Woonsocket, RI, he was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy Class of 1954 and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. David worked from 1965 - 1992 as a Postal Supervisor in Woonsocket and filled in when needed as an Officer in Charge at the Woonsocket, Pascoag and Manville Post Offices. Previously, David worked as a shipping clerk at Whitins Machine Works in Uxbridge.
David was a communicant and active member of St. Blaise Church, Bellingham, MA. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He loved telling stories about his past experiences to his grandchildren. Devoted to his family, David will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, February 25th at 9AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hour are on Friday, February 24th from 5PM to 8PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of David H. Debatis, Jr. to St. Blaise Church Maintenance & Repair Fund, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham, MA 02019 would be appreciated.
