Douglas S. Bentley

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Douglas S. Bentley, 61 of North Smithfield, passed away at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son to the late William and Peggy (Lewis) Bentley.
Doug spent many years involved in the Greater Woonsocket community, from his years coaching his children in Bernon Little League and his involvement with the Boy Scouts of Troop 2, Woonsocket. He was a fixture at Woonsocket North Stars and Woonsocket High School hockey games and along with recently being a member of the Woonsocket Sportsman's Club.
Before his retirement, he was employed for many years at Bullseye Shooting Supplies, Lowe's and most recently, Bass Pro Shops. Doug was a wonderful husband and father along with being a grandfather to his three grandchildren, Mackenzie, 6 Jackson, 3 and Isabelle, 1. All three of them will sorely miss their grandfather, affectionately known as "Papa". They were his pride and joy and he was most proud of each of them.
Doug is also survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda; two children, Scott and his wife, Stephanie Bentley of Webster, MA and Amanda and her husband, Michael Parenteau of West Warwick, RI. In addition to his three grandchildren, he is also survived by his siblings, William Bentley of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Donna Walsh of Coventry, RI, Susan Cote of Chepachet and Andrew Bentley of San Clemente, CA.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 21st at 10 AM in the Egidio DiPardo and Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4-7 PM.
