BURRILLVILLE - Ellen M. (Simpson) Houle, 100, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at

HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Houle, Sr. Born in Harrisville, she was the daughter of the late Annie (Simpson) and Malcolm McCutcheon.

Ellen worked as a waitress, textile worker and at Zambarano Hospital, where she retired from in 1985. She enjoyed going shopping and out to eat and loved dancing, especially with her husband. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pascoag and also of the Rosary & Altar Society. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and word search puzzles. She loved having her family around where we would hear her favorite sayings; "Good night nurse" and "For cripes sake". She will truly be missed.

She leaves behind her children: Arthur J. Houle, Jr. (Nancy), Barry Houle, Joyce Hill, David Houle and Janice Harriman (David) as well as 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Ellen was predeceased by her 4 sisters; Barbara Caya, Dorothy Adam, Bethley Guilbault and Helen Mumford; 3 brothers: Malcolm McCutcheon III, Donald McCutcheon and Allan McCutcheon and her daughter-in-law, Donna Houle.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 9 AM from the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave., Pascoag with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 183 Sayles Ave., Pascoag. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Main St., Pascoag. Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 6 from 4 to 7 PM.
