Frank DeHaas Obituary

BLACKSTONE - Frank DeHaas, 96, of Blackstone formerly Northbridge passed away Sunday March 5, 2017. He was the husband of Gloria (Biron) DeHaas and the late Anna (Dufries) DeHaas who died in 1983.
Frank had worked at the former Whitin Machine Works as a tool maker for 31 years before retiring in 1990. Prior to that, he had worked with Tainer Tech in Northbridge for 14 years, Astrofoam in Holden for 6 years and Coro Fab in Mansfield.
He was born May 11, 1920 in Northbridge the son of the late Nicholas and Elisabeth (Jongsma) DeHaas and was a graduate of Northbridge High School, class of 1938. He also graduated from the Whitin Machine Works, Tool Makers Apprentice School and the Providence Bible Institute. Mr. DeHaas was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.
Frank was a member of the Uxbridge Nazarene Church and taught the Men's Bible Study Group that met in the Whitinsville Community Center. He was a former member of the Whitinsville United Presbyterian Church and the North Uxbridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading the bible, comparing various translations, Bible dictionaries, commentaries and Bible subject studies.
He also enjoyed listening to recordings of old time hymns and sacred music, which he claims "fortifies the bible". He was a Sunday school teacher many years and sang in a men's group called The Gospel Praises.
In addition to his wife Gloria of 31years, he is survived by his daughter, Marilyn B. and her husband Michael Hughes of Douglas, three step-sons, David Wojcik of Carver, Michael and his wife Monique Noordzij-Wojcik of Johnston, RI and Matthew and his wife Christi Wojcik of Westport, RI; a brother, Nicholas DeHaas of FL; two grandchildren, Katherine A. (Ashe) Dianand and Andrew M. Ashe; eight step-grandchildren; Michelle, Alison S., Melissa, Michael, Ashley, Alison, Steven, and Arden. He was predeceased by his brother Herman DeHaas.
Visiting hours will be held Friday March 10, 2017 from 4 - 7 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St., Rte. 122, Uxbridge.
Funeral service will be held Sat. March 11, 2017 at 10 AM in Valley Chapel, A Church of the Nazarene, 130 Douglas St., Uxbridge. Please go directly to the church.
Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Northbridge.
