Gerald Hardy Obituary
Born on July 2, 1927, he was the son of the late Omer and Cora (Grondines) Hardy. He grew up in Blackstone; upon graduation from Blackstone High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After the end of World War II, he returned home, married his childhood sweetheart Lucille and settled in Bellingham.
Jerry was a longtime employee of Replacement Auto Parts, where he was sales manager. He and Lou enjoyed traveling, visiting numerous countries. Jerry was an avid golfer, outdoorsman and fisherman, a love he passed on to his sons and grandsons. Jerry was also a jack of all trades who could fix anything. Most of all, Jerry and Lou enjoyed their grandchildren, never missing a hockey or soccer game or major event.
He was a communicant of St. Blaise Church and the former Assumption Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister.
Jerry is survived by his four children and their spouses: Estelle and J. Pierre Martineau of Blackstone, Denis and Patricia Hardy of Bellingham, Ronald and Deborah Hardy of North Smithfield, and Michael Hardy and Anne Glaven of Cumberland. He will also be dearly missed by his nine grandchildren: Emily, Matthew, Benjamin, Andrew, Jonathan, Rachael, Veronica, Abigail and Katherine; as well as his four great-grandchildren, Aurora, Josiah, Sequoia and Clara Lucille; his brother, Robert Hardy, of Henderson, Nevada; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Cecile (Hardy) Masson and brothers Hubert and Marcel Hardy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at St. Blaise Church, 1158 South Main St., Bellingham. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of Cartier's Funeral Home, 151 South Main St., Bellingham.

I knew Gerry when we were in our teens working at the Belmont Woolen Mill in Woonsocket. He went in the Navy and I went in the Merchant Marine and that was the end of our relationship. I knew him as a very nice kid. Gerry, God bless you.
