WOONSOCKET - Glendon 'Jerry' Potter, 88, passed away on, August 17, 2025, in RI Hospital. He is the son of the late Glendon E. Potter and Anna M. (Tuntland) Potter. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Donald and David. He is survived by his beloved wife Santina "Sandy" Buglio Potter, his son LtCol Jeffrey Potter of South Kingstown, RI, daughter Donna Allard Potter of Cumberland, RI, son Timothy Potter of Lincoln, RI, and son Sean Potter of Natick, MA. Jerry is also survived by his brother Dean Potter of Sandwich, IL. Additionally, he is survived by nine grandchildren, Ryan Allard, Bradford and Jeffrey Allard, Benjamin and Andrew Potter, as well as James, Annelise, and Juliette Potter and Mia Fanelli Potter, and one great grand-daughter, Iris Potter.
Jerry grew up in Sandwich, Il where he excelled in athletics, he was a 4 Letter Athlete in Football, Baseball, Track and Basketball for 4 years. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and served as an Aviation Radar Operator for 4 years stationed in Thule, Greenland and NAS Quonset, RI. While stationed there, he met his soon to be wife Santina (Woonsocket High School 1957) at Scarborough Beach. After marrying, Jerry worked at Taft Pierce in Woonsocket, RI as a Die and Tool Maker after which he worked for Texas Instruments (TI), S. Attelboro, MA as a Master Die and Tool Maker until his retirement in 1997; he did continue to work briefly for TI as an adjunct consultant over the following 4 years. Jerry was also a member of The RI Air National Guard at the 102nd Air Control Squadron, N. Smithfield, RI as an Aerospace Control and Warnings Systems Operator specializing in Threat Identification and Operations Management. He retired at the rank of MSgt in May of 1996 after 27 years of service. Over his Air National Guard career, MSgt Potter (Retired) participated in numerous Real-World Deployments combatting The War on Drugs in Grand Turks, Bahamas and Caicos Islands, Great Inagua, and Columbia. In retirement, Jerry worked in the Pro Shop as a Starter and Course Ranger at NE Country Club in Bellingham, MA which he enjoyed very much.
Over the course of his life, Jerry enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, boating, playing golf and tennis. He enjoyed coaching his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker who did everything for, and loved his family.
His funeral will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, W. Wrentham Rd.
