Glenn W. "Flett" Goulet

1961 - 2021

Glenn W. Goulet, 60, of Sutton, a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 in the comfort of his home after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. Glenn, who was also known as "Flett" to his family and friends, will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, warm personality and his infectious smile.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife Patricia L. Goulet; his adoring children, Emma P. Goulet, Eve E. Goulet, and Jared T. Goulet of Sutton; his proud parents, George W. Goulet and Mary C. Goulet of Uxbridge; and cherished siblings Erik J. Goulet and his wife Erin Goulet of Uxbridge, Holly E. (Goulet) Desplaines of Uxbridge and Melissa M. Goulet of Nashua, NH. Glenn is also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends; including his lifelong friend and right-hand man, James Kaczowka and his wife Jacqueline Kaczowka of Worcester.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on July 29, 1961, Glenn was raised and educated in Uxbridge. Throughout his youth he participated with the Uxbridge Captain James Buxton Fife & Drum Corp and played on numerous sports teams; including baseball and football. Glenn graduated from Uxbridge High School, where he made many life-long friends, who he continued to enjoy "Boys Weekend" with for 30 years. Glenn went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lowell and a master's degree in Civil Engineering from Tufts University. During this time he discovered a new passion for rugby. He played for the Worcester Rugby Club for several years and built a group of enduring friends.
Glenn worked for the US Department of Transportation at the John A. Volpe National Transportation Center in Cambridge for 37 years. He recently retired on June 30, 2021. Glenn was most proud of the establishment of the Glenn W. Goulet Transportation Safety Award, which recognized his extraordinary commitment and professional excellence in transportation safety through research and leadership.
Above all, Glenn's most cherished role was as "Dad". He loved watching Emma cheer and excel with her education, passionately support Eve throughout her soccer career, and cherished the fishing adventures he shared with Jared. For many years Glenn hosted and cooked Thanksgiving dinner, creating a Goulet family tradition, which will be continued by his family in his memory. Glenn enjoyed working with his hands, repairing cars, and woodworking; he was the best "Fix it Man" around, a skill learned from his father, George. His neighbors, friends and family knew him as the guy who always had the right tool to borrow.
The family would like to thank Dr. Humberto Rossi and his care team at Dana- Farber Milford for the compassionate care shown to Glenn. With their support, Glenn continued to never give up.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 12th from 4pm to 8pm in the Buma Funeral Home, 101 N. Main St., Uxbridge.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13th at 11am in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
