Henry Levitre Obituary

BLACKSTONE - Henry G. "Sleepy" Levitre, Jr., 85, of Blackstone, MA formerly of Thayer St., Millville, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Rosalie A. (Gibbons) Levitre. Born in Millville, MA on December 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Henry G. and Rhea (Gauthier) Levitre, Sr.
He was the loving father of Jeffrey G. Levitre and his wife, Carol of Cape Coral, FL, Brenda J. Herb and her husband, Wayne of Nasonville, RI, Brian J. Levitre and his wife Janette of Bellingham, MA, Judith M. Levitre of Blackstone, MA and Rebecca M. Stimer of North Smithfield, RI. He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Keith and Erik Herb of Nasonville, RI and Cameron and Ethan Levitre of Bellingham, MA. He was the brother of Marion Crochiere of Blackstone, MA, Jacqueline Kowalewski of Manville, RI and the late Clement, Robert, Ernest and Rene Levitre, Leah Haines and Patricia Maher. In addition, he leaves his many nieces and nephews.
Living in Millville most of his life, Henry attended schools in both Millville and Blackstone. In his early professional career, Henry joined the family business of stone masonry, and later became a cement finisher in the Local 51 Framingham Bricklayers Union for over 35 years. Henry's signature work is well known throughout the entire Blackstone Valley.
He was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran serving three of his six years in the China Theater aboard the U.S.S. Helena as a gunners mate. He attended the annual reunions of the U.S.S. Helena held throughout the country.
Henry was a lifelong member and communicant of St. Augustine Church in Millville. He was an avid Red Sox Fan. His greatest joy was spending time with is family. Devoted to his family, Henry will be greatly missed. Thank you to the Milford Regional Medical Center Staff, and Salmon VNA Hospice for their compassion and care.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 22nd at 11:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon at St. Augustine Church, 17 Lincoln St., Millville, MA. Interment will follow with military honors at St. Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge, MA. Visiting hours are on Friday, August 21st from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home.
