Irene M. Jacques

WOONSOCKET - Irene M. Jacques, 86, of Woonsocket passed away at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the loving wife for 65 years of Maurice P. Jacques. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Sylva & Helene (Moreau) Lareau.
She was the loving mother of Helene Monroe, and her husband, Dr. R. Grier Monroe of Westwood, MA, Claire McCourt, and her husband, Joseph McCourt of Blackstone, MA, Barbara Jacques of Boca Raton, FL, Mary Peloquin of North Smithfield, RI. She had 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving of the Lareau family. She was the sister of the late Gerard, Iola Dugas, Donald, Eloi, Roland, Sylvia Beaudet, Alain, Romuald, Helen Goyette, Pauline Dube Lea, Rev. Ernest Lareau CP, and Francis. She leaves numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was a graduate of the late St. Clare High School, attended Albertus Magnus College and graduated from Fanny Farmer Cooking School of Boston, MA. She was a communicant of St. Agatha's Church. She enjoyed writing, painting, reading and athletic activities.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Wrentham Rd., Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Monday from 4 - 7 PM.
