John Haddad

1928 - 2018

WOONSOCKET - John Haddad, 89, formerly of Ray Avenue passed away at Woonsocket Health Center on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. He was the son of the late Abdo and Hysna (Kaboz) Haddad. Born in Woonsocket on July 28, 1928, he was a lifelong Woonsocket resident.
John was educated in the Woonsocket Public Schools, and then went on to work at the Dunn Worsted where he worked and began learning the construction, electrical, and plumbing trades that resulted in having licenses in each of these fields. He continued to work at the Mill Street factory as it went from the Dunn Worsted to General Instrument, to Electronic Molding, and the EMC Realty. He supervised the maintenance of the building until it closed. His favorite pastime was to work at the Embassy Club starting from his youth and then well into his retirement years. He knew the restaurant well, and John worked in many capacities. However, he most enjoyed his position as the banquet manager, a position he held for many years.
John was proud of his military service in many of the US bases during the Korean War. He was a true patriot, and very proud of his country. His passion was for his automobile. Whether it was a new Chevrolet, a Corvette, a Camaro, a Cadillac or a Lexus, a new one found its way into his driveway every two years.
John is survived by his nephew George Arees and his partner Andrew Wylie of Orlando Florida. He was predeceased by his siblings: Michael, Antonio, Marguerite, Mary, Lucy Haddad and Jeannette Arees.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Antiochian Church, 249 High Street, Pawtucket, RI at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
