Judith Collin Obituary

BLACKSTONE - Judith C. (Anderson) Collin, 81, of Blackstone passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at her home.
Born in 1936 to the late Arthur Anderson and Judith (Hansen) Anderson Brodd and step-father Carl Brodd, she was raised in Millville during her childhood years and graduated from Blackstone High School in 1955. Judith married her sweetheart, Lucien, on August 31, 1957 and adopted two children in 1966.
Judith worked beside her husband, Lucien G. Collin, taking care of house and home as well as assisting with the needs of the farm, while their children were small. Once their children were older, Judith worked small jobs and took college courses. At one time, she sold real estate for the Rosenfeld Company in Hopedale.
Judith was an avid artist and gardener. There wasn't a plant she couldn't grow or an area that she couldn't make more beautiful with her talents.
Later in life, she was active in her community, and was a member of the Uxbridge Women's Club, the Cultural Council as well as the Council on Aging, and was a member of the Norden Cemetery Historical Committee. She donated many articles to the Blackstone Historical Museum and showed her art work at the Blackstone Public Library.
Judith leaves behind her husband Lucien G. Collin of Blackstone; a daughter Lauren Kelly and her husband Edward of Uxbridge; a son Wade Collin of Trenton, New Jersey; 5 grandchildren, Meaghan Hahn of Hanford CA, Kurt Jones of Yuba City, CA, Aria Kaufman of Santa Margarita, CA, a step-grandson Brian Kelly of Hopedale and step-granddaughter Darlene Kelly of Swampscott; 9 great grandchildren and her sister-in-law Doris Collin of Uxbridge.
Judith will be greatly missed by her family and by her many longtime friends.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday August 3, 2017 from 4-7 PM in the Buma Funeral Home, 101 N. Main St., Rte. 122, Uxbridge.
Funeral services will be held Friday August 4, 2017 at 9 AM from the funeral home followed by a Celebration of Life with Eucharist at 10 AM in St. John's Episcopal Church, 49 Central St., Millville.
Burial will follow in the Norden Cemetery, Millville Road, Uxbridge
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Always remembered fondly

Mrs. Collin was an Aide in my Kindergarten class over 40 years ago, but I will never forget her patience and kindness. I also remember the trip we made up to the farm back then. I was also fortunate enough to teach her granddaughter later on at UHS, which reminded me of the connection between Mrs. Collin and my younger years. My heartfelt condolences go to her family, and she will always be remembered in my prayers.
