Kenneth G. Hardy

WOONSOCKET - Kenneth G. Hardy, 58, of Woonsocket, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Donna (Gagnon) Hardy, whom he married on May 17, 1980. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Ralph Hardy and Claire (Piette) Ferrenti.
Ken served in the U.S. Army for 23 years, retiring as a Sergeant Major. For his exceptional career, he was awarded the prestigious Legion of Merit and was extremely proud of his military service. Ken was an Assistant Store Manager at the Seekonk (Mass.) Walmart.
Besides his wife, he leaves his sons, Timothy Hardy, and his fiancée Andrea Cavedon of West Warwick; and Scott Hardy, and his wife Hazel of Blackstone, Mass.; two brothers, Michael Hardy, and Russell Ferrenti and his wife Anne-Marie; both of Woonsocket; two sisters, Lynn Ferrenti of Spring Hill, Tenn. and Victoria Ferrenti of Woonsocket; sister-in-law Debbie Hardy of Cumberland; two granddaughters, Eliana and Gabriella Hardy, both of Blackstone; his father- and mother-in-law, Normand and Muriel Gagnon of Woonsocket; his brother-in-law, Brian Gagnon of Woonsocket; as well as many nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late Ralph Hardy Jr. and Robert Hardy.
Ken was a member of the Cercle Laurier. He loved reading, listening to oldies music, watching classic movies, watching the Yankees win and taking family vacations. He absolutely adored his two grandchildren. His infectious smile, witty humor and Dadisms will be greatly missed.
His funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. The family requests that no ties be worn by anyone in attendance at the funeral.
