Marcel B. Blanchette

BLACKSTONE - Marcel B. Blanchette, 80, of Blackstone, passed away September 22, 2015 in Beaumont Rehab and Nursing Center, Northbridge. He was the husband of Claire E. (Ethier) whom he married May 26, 1956. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Ovila and Madeleine (Gendron) Blanchette.
Mr. Blanchette was an Air Force Veteran. He was a machinist for Crosby Vavle & Gage for 45 years, and was a founding member and president of its union.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons; Bernard Blanchette and his wife (Diane) of Woonsocket and Stephen Blanchette of Quincy, MA; two daughters; Colette Newman and her husband Ian of Blackstone, MA and Michelle Farrar of Warwick, RI; six grand children, Jamie, Jennifer, Kimberly, Daniel, Jillian and Cody; and three great grandchildren, Brody, Lily and Isabella. He was the father of the late Joseph Blanchette.
His funeral will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Augustine Church, 17 Lincoln St., Millville, MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 314 Wrentham Rd., Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 PM.
