Matthew S. Widor

1923 - 2018

BLACKSTONE - Matthew S. Widor, 94, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Westerly Health Center. He is the beloved husband for 68 years of Beatrice D. (Parenteau) Widor. Born in Woonsocket, RI on October 17, 1923 the son of the late Walter and Agnes (Sulima) Widor. He is the loving father of Yvonne Gendron of CT, and Anthony Widor and his wife, Helen of Woonsocket, RI. He is the grandfather of Mark Gendron of CT, and the late Shayne Gendron, and great-grandfather of Mark Gendron Jr. of CT, Matthew Gendron of CT and Ian Gendron of MI. He is the brother of the late Frank, Theodore, and Joseph Widor.
He was a United States World War II Army Air Force Veteran attaining the rank of Corporal and received the American Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
A resident of Blackstone for 65 years formerly of Woonsocket, he worked at Quincy Dye in Woonsocket for 18 years until retiring upon their closing. He was a member of the Berard Desjarlais Post #88, St. Joseph's Senior Citizens, St. Louis Senior Citizens and was a communicant of St. Theresa Church Blackstone. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
