Michael Mercure Obituary
Born on November 18, 1954 in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Lionel R. and Marie I. (Brackett) Mercure.
Michael was raised and educated in Franklin, MA and was a longtime resident of Woonsocket, RI. Michael worked for many years as a machine operator in print manufacturing.
He was an avid biker having completed the Pan-Mass challenge before his diagnosis with Parkinson's disease. After retirement, Michael enjoyed many years of nature and locomotive photography. He proudly displayed his photographs in his room at Oakland Grove and was invited to display his work in a main hallway in the building. He kept his camera close to him and loved going out to shoot pictures whenever the opportunity presented itself. Michael travelled all over New England to photograph trains, covered bridges and waterfalls. In addition, Michael enjoyed building military themed models and dioramas, collecting all things NASCAR and watching his favorite New England sports teams play.
Michael is survived by his life partner, Joyce Marquis; daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Kristian Korencsik of Blackstone, MA; Katie and Preston Flanagan-Rice of Uxbridge, MA; and son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Diana Mercure of Stafford, VA. Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Julia, Sarah, Angelina, Charlette and Anthony. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark Mercure.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Wednesday August 11, 2021 from 9-11AM, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin, MA, followed by a funeral service at 11AM.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Oakland Grove Health Care Center for their care and compassion.
