Paul R. Tanguay

1937 - 2017

CUMBERLAND - Paul R. "Pop" Tanguay, 80 passed away on Friday in Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Theresa Y. (Desrochers) Tanguay.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Leonel V. and Graziella (Chagnon) Tanguay. He resided in Cumberland for the past 8 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Mr. Tanguay was a Veteran of the National Guard.
A member of the Lefoyer Cribbage League where he was champion and a member of the Chimney Hill Residents Association.
He attended Boston School of Barbering, graduating in 1954.
He owned his owned and operated Paul's Styling Salon, Pawtucket for 33 years until his retirement in 2016.
He is survived by his three sons; Brian P. Tanguay and his wife Kathy of Pawtucket, Raymond H. Tanguay and his wife Melissa of Warwick and Kevin L. Tanguay and his wife Debra of Seekonk, MA. One daughter Michelle R. Namaka and her husband John of Pawtucket. One brother C. Normand Tanguay of Pawtucket. Three grandchildren James, Rebecca and Matthew, along with several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gerald Tanguay and Gertrude Richotte.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
