WARWICK - Rachel Buckley, age 99 of Warwick and formerly of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI, surrounded by her family. Born in

Woonsocket, RI, she was the

daughter of the late Dr. J. Gaspard and Emma (Bonin) Boucher. Rachel was the wife of the late Charles G. Buckley.

Born as Rachel Boucher in Woonsocket, she volunteered for the Red Cross during World War II after completing high school. Soon after the end of the war, Rachel married Charles Buckley, also of Woonsocket. They moved to North Smithfield and as the family grew too big for their house, they developed a small parcel of land that is now Buckley Drive in North Smithfield. In 1976, they relocated to Narragansett as they always had a love for the ocean. Upon the death of her beloved husband, Rachel became completely devoted to her many grandchildren being a force majeur in their upbringing. In the mid 90s she relocated to Warwick to be closer to her family where she remained active and involved in all of her extended familys lives. She was well known to be the loving, caring matriarch of the Buckley family throughout her entire life, always participating at family celebrations, weddings, reunions and holidays. She was active and blessed the lives of her family throughout all her life.

Rachel was the mother of five children: Paula Buckley Smith of East Greenwich, RI, Andrea Buckley of Warwick, RI, and Charlene Buckley of Warwick, RI, C Gregory Buckley of Orlando, FL and Guy Buckley from Amesbury, MA. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and one sister: Madeleine Boucher Grey.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave, West Warwick. Burial at Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket will be private.
