Robert Lima Obituary

PROVIDENCE - Robert J. Lima, 86, of Providence, formerly of Pawtucket, died on August 27, 2018, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" (O'Neil) Lima. Betty and Bob were high school sweethearts and were
married 62 years. He was born in Seekonk, MA, the son of the late Manuel H. and Theresa E. (Viara) Lima and graduated from the former East High School in Pawtucket in 1950.
Bob served in the US Navy as a dental technician during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for United Paper Stock for 5 years before working for the US Postal Service for 27 years, retiring as the Supervisor of Windows for the downtown Pawtucket office. He worked as a part time driver for Pasquale Trucking in Pawtucket after retiring.
Bob was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Church in Pawtucket for 58 years, serving as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister, as well as being very active in the Senior Citizens Group. He loved to bowl and played on leagues for many years. He loved playing cribbage and Hi-Lo-Jack. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW.
Bob's greatest joy in life was his family and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He relished the simple pleasures of playing with his children and grandchildren, and loved vacationing with his family on Cape Cod and Nantasket Beach.
Bob was the father of the late Deborah A. Giorgeri. He is survived by his children, Susan E. (Lima) Gagnon (the late Normand) of Attleboro, MA, and David J. Lima and wife Lori of Pawtucket, his grandchildren, Jennifer E. Silva and husband Joshua of Rehoboth, and Robert D. Lima of Pawtucket, and his great-grandchildren, JJ, Theresa and Audrea Silva. He also leaves his son-in-law Anthony Giorgeri of Pawtucket, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral with Military honors will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Leo the Great, 699 Central Ave. Interment will follow at Mt. Bob and his late beloved wife Betty were two of the nicest people I have ever known.
During the Churches 40 week club event held at the Pawtucket Country Club, I used to sit with them. They made me feel so comfortable that I always had a great time. It was like sitting with family. I was also friendly with their daughter Debby and was saddened to read in the obituary
of her passing. My heart is really saddened today to learn of the loss of such wonderful people
from St. Leo the Great Parish. My deepest condolences go out to the entire Lima family.

Bob and his late beloved Betty, were dear and loyal friends of my late parents, Raymond and Eleanor Sawyer. Please accept my most sincere sympathy on the passing of a truly fine man. These four shared many, many hours of devotion and commitment to their parish,

Our deepest condolences to the entire Lima family. It was way back in October of 1985 when we first moved into the neighborhood on Grand Avenue. We were the newest and youngest of the neighbors. Boy did Robert and Betty let us know it! It took a few years to break the ice but when it was broken they were two of the most loving people we know. It was all about Family and we knew because it was the same way with us. When we started our family they were there with words and actions of encouragement and Advise!! They will be truly missed but at the same time we are very thankful that we had the opportunity to meet and grow with such tremendous people. Thank you Robert and Betty for everything! The Lefort family!

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and all the family today and always. We are here on this earth for only a little time, but part of us will always be here in the smile of our children, our grandchildren and even our great grandchildren. Prayers and love to all of you...
