Roger Bissonnette Obituary
Born in Woonsocket on Feb. 1, 1926, he is the son of the late Napoleon and Isabelle (Tellier) Bissonnette. He is the loving father of Robert M. Bissonnette and his wife, Diane of Northbridge, Mass.; Thomas C. Bissonnette and Lynn Trouchelman of Goodyear, Ariz.; Debra A. Bissonnette and Arthur Beauchesne of North Smithfield; and Linda S. Mazzola and her husband, Dean of Blackstone. He leaves his cherished six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is the brother of Norman Bissonnette and his wife, Lucille of Woonsocket; Florette Poitras of Cumberland; and the late Germaine Sevigny.
A resident of Bellingham for 55 years, formerly of Blackstone where he was raised, Roger worked as a carpenter in construction.
Roger was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant and received the Army Occupation Medal.
He was a member of the Millerville Men's Club and the Woonsocket Deluxe Sporting Club. He was an avid bowler and on a bowling league in his younger years. Roger and June loved to dance. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening.
Roger was always building something and helping family and friends with their construction projects. Devoted to his family, Roger will be greatly missed.
Arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Roger made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Center, 20 Prospect St., Milford, MA 01757 would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Cartier's Funeral Home, 151 South Main St., Bellingham.
