Rose M. Chopy

CUMBERLAND - Rose M. Chopy, 89 passed away on Monday surrounded by her family in The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville.
She was the wife of Joseph Chopy Sr., they had been married for the past 66 years.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Rose (Callahan) Toomey. She resided in Cumberland for the past for 56 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Rose was a member of the St. John Vianney Senior's Cumberland for many years. She had a love for music and enjoyed knitting in her free time. Some of her best days were spent with her grandchildren at the Sher-Le-Mon swim club, Cumberland. She loved spending time by the ocean. She enjoyed spending time and taking day trips with her sisters and cousins.
Mrs. Chopy was the co-owner along with her husband of Joe's Market on Manton Avenue in Providence for more than 50 years.
Beside her husband she is survived by her son Joseph Chopy Jr., and his wife Colleen of Cumberland. One sister Maureen Jordan of Florida. Three grandchildren; Katelyn Chopy-Fox and her husband Andrew, Ryan Chopy and Jillian Chopy. One great grandchild Arlo Fox and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joan Azar and Dolores Dame.
Family and friends are kindly invited to Rose's Life Celebration which begins with Visiting Hours on Saturday from 9 AM to 11 AM with a prayer service at 11 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt.122, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the March of Dimes, 220 W Exchange St # 3, Providence, RI 02903.
