Ruth M. Joyal

WOONSOCKET -Ruth M. Joyal 92, of Mendon Rd. passed away on December 19, 2023, at the Philip Hulitar Center surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife for seventy- one years of Marcel V. Joyal. Born in Leominster, MA, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Martha (Lavoie) Bilow. Ruth spent most of her life caring for her family. When her children were school age, she volunteered for the lunch program at the Greater Woonsocket Catholic Regional School. Later in life she worked for CD Burns for ten years, before retiring twenty-five years ago. Ruth was an avid seamstress and loved making her children's clothing.

Besides her husband she leaves her children, Patricia Bourget and her husband Normand of Woonsocket, Ann-Marie Simard and her husband John of N. Smithfield, and Michael Joyal of Cumberland. She also leaves her grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Jaclyn, Jonathan and Bethany Bourget, Michele Robinson and her husband Kevin, Matthew Simard and his wife Amanda, Hope, Holly, Hazel, and Helena Joyal and one great-grandchild on the way and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Robert and brothers Leon and William Bilow.

Her funeral with visitation will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 9:00 AM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland.
