Samuel Joe "Big Sammy" Harris

WOONSOCKET-Samuel Joe "Big Sammy" Harris, Sr., 67, of Woonsocket, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was the husband of the late Georgette A. (Bellevieu) Harris.
Sammy was born in Woonsocket, RI and was a son of Annie D. (Coleman) Harris and the late Mack Lou Harris.
Sammy was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and worked for many years in the construction field until his retirement. He was an avid Patriots fan, loved to sing and enjoyed auto body restoration in his younger years. Sammy was an avid weight lifter and competed in many local powerlifting competitions over the years. He always had a smile on his face and was known to all as an all-around happy person. Sammy cherished the time he spent with his family, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him
He is survived by his son, Sam II and his wife Kimberly of McKinney, TX; daughters, Tammy-Jo Elgar and her husband Steve of Van Alstyne, TX, and Dawn Spencer of Harrisburg, PA; brother's Freddy Harris and his wife Rose of Woonsocket, RI, Bobby Harris and his wife Mae of Scottsdale, AZ and Irvy Harris of FL; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Maxwell Harris.
Private arrangements are in the care of Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, Attleboro.
