Darin Harris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Aldworth Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC on Feb. 22, 2026.
Darin Ray Harris, Sr, "Beef" was born on January 29, 1962, in Philadelphia, PA to Patricia Dotson Massie and Donald Ray Harris. Darin left this world on January 7, 2026, at home in Dallas, TX from natural causes.
As a child and teenager, Darin attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Germantown Avenue. He was an acolyte and part of the Youth Theatre Fellowship. Darin graduated from Dobbins Technical High School in 1979 and West Chester University in 1985. While at West Chester, he was a manager for the Men's Basketball Team. Darin became very active with the Dobbins Reunion Committee and the Mustang Traveling Club, coordinating events and excursions to resorts in the states and the islands. He was also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Darin became a High School Physical Education Teacher in Philadelphia, PA; Dallas, TX; Jackson, TN; and Camden, NJ. He moved back to Dallas, TX at the time of his death. Darin loved all sports, especially basketball and golf, but also football, volleyball, tennis, and baseball. You could often find him golfing somewhere over the weekend or just working on his putting outside. He also loved puzzles, mind games, trivia, movies, and a good game of pool. Darin has cooked for a while and became quite a good chef making delicious meals and desserts. He also took up sewing in his 50's learning how to make men's clothing, especially pants. Darin loved big dogs and nice cars.
Darin was preceded in death by his father Donald Ray Harris. His mother Patricia Dotson Massie recently passed on February 15, 2026.
Darin is survived by his two sons, Darin Ray (D Ray) Harris, Jr. and Devan Ramario Harris; his sister Dawn Patterson (Rick), goddaughter Jeanette Pearson, godson Samme Givens, nephew Josh Patterson (Victoria), niece Shannon Julia (Edison), cousin Lynda Murray-Jackson (Andre), and other family and friends.
