Suzanne Jeffers Obituary

FRANKLINVILLE, N.J. - Suzanne (Lawton) Jeffers, 92, of Franklinville, N.J., and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away May 29, 2017, in New Jersey.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles H. Lawton, Jr. and the late Sarah (Mayoh) Lawton, she moved to New Jersey to live with her daughter several years ago.

Mrs. Jeffers was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Pawtucket, serving as a deacon in the 1980s.

She was a 1944 graduate of The Lincoln School, Providence, and received her bachelor of science degree from Simmons College, Boston, in 1948. She taught school in Connecticut and New Jersey and was an administrative assistant at the Foxboro Company before retiring.

She is predeceased by her son, Christopher Jeffers of Narragansett, and is survived by her daughter, Dr. Ann Merrick Jeffers of Franklinville, N.J.; her son, Charlie Jeffers of Laguna Beach, Calif.; her grandchildren, Merrick, Sam, Lili and Daisy; her sister, Carolyn L. Volmer and her brother, David M. Lawton of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews.

Her graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 7, at 11 a.m. in Moshassuck Cemetery, 978 Lonsdale Ave., Central Falls, and is open to the public. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Jeffers' memory to the First Baptist Church of Pawtucket, 91 Cottage St., Pawtucket, RI 02860, would be appreciated.
