Therese J. Thifault

WOONSOCKET - Therese J. Thifault (Terry Fernandes), 90, of Woonsocket, died Saturday at The Friendly Home.

Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Philias and Yvonne Laforme. She was a resident of the city for most of her life.
Terry was employed as a CNA at St Antoine Residence and Woonsocket Health Center. In her earlier years, she worked in the local textile industry, at Hasbro Corp., and waitressed at several local restaurants, including the former El Dorado in Woonsocket.

Terry enjoyed playing cards and listening to country music. Many a night would find Terry out on the local bingo scene always trying her luck. Terry was a self-proclaimed bingo addict.

Terry was a loving mother and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Ayotte and her husband David of North Smithfield, and Sandra Oakley of Pawtucket. She was the sister of the late Roland Laforme and Cecile "Cookie" Shugrue Grimard. She is also survived by her grandchildren Vanessa Calejo and her husband Alex and Wesley Wynkoop; two great-grandchildren Charlotte and Bryce, and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Visiting hours are Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. A prayer service will be held during visitation. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of R.I., P.O. Box 458, Wakefield, RI. 02880.
