Thomas Michael Grochowski

1950 - 2016

FALL RIVER, MA - Thomas Michael Grochowski, 65, of Fall River, MA, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on August 16, 1950 in Woonsocket, RI, he was the eldest son of the late Thomas A. Grochowski and Anne M. (Irza) Grochowski.
A resident of Fall River for the past two years, he previously lived in North Attleboro, MA. He was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, Class of 1968, where he led the debate team. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Marquette University in 1972, and his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1976.
Thomas was a self-employed Attorney in Rhode Island, and recently worked as a Substitute Teacher for Attleboro (MA) Public Schools. He was a former Woonsocket City Assistant Solicitor and former member of the Woonsocket School Committee.
A man of diverse interests, he was a pianist who loved music (especially the Beatles and musicals), theater, fine dining, travel, card playing, animals of most every kind, family traditions, and time spent with his beloved family and dear grandchildren.
Thomas is survived by his four children: Matthew Steven Grochowski of North Attleboro, MA; Kelly A. (Grochowski) Cohen of Rumson, NJ; Jill Michelle Grochowski of North Providence, RI; and Amy L. (Grochowski) Lanctot of Escondido, CA. He was the cherished grandfather of Ava B. Cohen, Brooke M. Cohen, and Graham B. Lanctot. Thomas was the brother of Joseph Grochowski, and leaves his nieces: Elizabeth Beaulieu and Sarah Roberts.
Visitation has respectfully been omitted.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 133 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro, MA.
Private burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Woonsocket, RI.
