Thomas Jenness Obituary

BURRILLVILLE - Thomas C. Jenness Jr., 79, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, in Hope Hospice & Palliative Care RI, Providence. He was the husband of Jean A. (Badger) Jenness, whom he married Sept. 22, 1957. Born in Brockton, Mass., he was the son of the late Thomas C. Sr. and Gertrude (Uhlman) Jenness.

Tom worked in the restaurant industry for most of his life, working for companies such as Jan Companies, which owns restaurant chains such as Burger King and Krispy Kreme, for many years. He got his start as a cook and throughout his career, owned and operated a bakery as well as a restaurant. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a devoted family man, and his life was centered around his family, who meant the world to him. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing any of their sporting events.

Besides his wife, he is also survived by three sons: Thomas C. Jenness III and his wife Judy of Harrisville, Mark Jenness and his wife Sheila of Danielson, Conn., and Daniel Jenness and his wife Renee of Harrisville; three daughters: Dorinda Fournier and her husband Bruce and Jeannine Pratt and her husband Dennis, all of Harrisville, and Dawn Dinges and her husband Karl of Pascoag; two brothers: Wayne Jenness of Phoenix, Ark., and Donald Jenness of West Bridgewater, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave., Pascoag, with his service and burial with Military Honors at noon in the R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Between the Cracks, P.O. Box 468, Harrisville, RI 02830 or RI Hope Hospice and Palliative Care RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904-9826.
