Catherine J. Evans

Catherine Joy Evans, 37, of South Beloit, Illinois, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 in her home after a long and courageous battle against cancer. She was born on March 12, 1988 in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of John and Arlene (Soderman) Mills. Catherine graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona and was a dedicated fan of the Wildcats. She later received her Nursing Degree from Chamberlain University. Catherine married Cory Evans on February 7, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. Catherine was employed by St. Mary's Hospital, Janesville, Wisconsin in the Labor & Delivery Unit. She was a member of Northeast Christian Church, Rockford, Illinois. Catherine truly loved being a labor & delivery nurse. Her caring hands touched and helped many people over the years. Cathy was a passionate Christian and singer. She often led worship at church and performed with the Nielsen Chorale, the resident chorus of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. Cathy's passion for Jesus and her family was unmatched. She is survived by her parents, John and Arlene Mills; husband, Cory Evans; sons, Hunter Evans and Henry Evans; brother-in-law, Jay Schroeder; sisters, Julie (Matthew) Beauregard, Laura (Ben) Goding, and Joanna (Josh) Fiechtner; in-laws, Zach (Michelle) Nuckles, Branden Simoens, Nathan (Emily) Evans, Jacob Schroeder, Autumn (Jason) Schroeder-Juares, and Drew Schroeder; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and too many best friends to name. Catherine was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Floyd (Ceil) Mills and Jean (Harold) Greenlaw; and maternal grandparents, Jack and Priscilla Soderman. A Celebration of Life for Catherine will be held at Northeast Christian Church, 5651 East Riverside Blvd., Rockford, Illinois on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Open house from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with a service at 10:30 a.m. and lunch immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to The Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford.
