Darrell Armstrong Obituary

Belvidere Darrell Glenn Armstrong, 69, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 19, 2025 surrounded by his family in Creston, IL. Darrell was born on January 1, 1956, the oldest son of Jimmy L. and Frances M. (Tacker) Armstrong in Wynne, Arkansas. Darrell drove a truck for Plote Construction for 32 years. He worked hard but in his free time he also played hard. He was an avid motorcyclist with a need for speed, including motocross racing in his younger years. Favorite activities included his motorcycle with friends, playing with his dogs, enjoying cold Bud Lights and fishing. He absolutely loved being around his family and was an amazing son, brother, father and grandfather. Darrell is survived by his mother, Frances Armstrong of Wynne, AR; two daughters: Jenna Stern and Jamie Armstrong both of Rockford, IL; brother, Roger (Suzie) Armstrong of Creston, IL; two grandchildren: Lindy and Lawson Stern; four nieces and nephews: Tiffany Siebrasse, Stephany (Jeff) Gleich, Valerie (Eric) Gonzalez and Randall (Veronica) Armstrong, Jr. and nine great nieces and nephews; including his partner of many years, Heather Rubeck. Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy and two brothers: Randall Armstrong and Jimmy Armstrong, Jr. There will be a small family service with a Celebration of Life to honor him at a later date.
