John M. Coots

John M. Coots, 86, of South Beloit, IL passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025. He was born July 14, 1938 in South Beloit, IL the son of Clarence and Mildred M. (Marks) Coots. John was a 1956 graduate of South Beloit High School, South Beloit, IL. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1956 until 1959. John married Laurray Kuehl on September 16, 1961 in Faith Lutheran Church, So. Beloit, IL. She predeceased him on February 26, 2023. John was formerly employed by Warner Electric for over 40 years. He enjoyed playing softball with the Warner Electric team, traveling with his wife, watching NASCAR and sports especially the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. John also enjoyed attending school, sports and scouting activities of his grandsons, nieces and nephews. He traveled to Washington in 2019 with the Vets Roll organization. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. John was a loving husband, father, "Papa", brother and uncle and will be missed by all. Survivors include his son, Craig (Laura) Coots; grandchildren, Jeremy, Christopher and Brandon; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Lawrence "Larry" Coots; sister, Frances Banker; infant daughter, Mary; and niece, Corey Coots. A Funeral service for John will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in Faith Lutheran Church, 1305 Blackhawk Blvd., South Beloit, IL. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery. A visitation of remembrance will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in the church.
