Lawrence David Horne

Lawrence David Horne, 70, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Larry was born on October 30, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Lawrence Horne and Evelyn Sellers. Larry worked as a ranch hand managing horse. It was the occupation he loved the most. Larry was intelligent man and received his GED later in life. He loved being outdoors, camping, being a buffalo soldier, and enjoyed riding and tending to horses. He was an amazing cook and liked to dance and drink. Larry loved spending time with and was a family-oriented man. He made it his business to be at as many family functions as possible. Larry also loved volunteering in the community and working at New Zion Baptist of Beloit, Wisconsin where he was a member. At church he did whatever needed to be done whether it was maintenance or custodian work, cooking in the kitchen or singing in the choir. Larry served his country in the United States Navy for several years. Larry leaves behind his children, Rita (Darren), Isabell, Craig Singleton, Ebony Horne, Lena Horne, and Larry Joslin; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Ida Davis, Eileen Horne, Robert Horne, Earl Horne; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Horne and Evelyn Sellers-Moody; daughter, Essence Joslin; siblings, Joyce Horne, Norma Lee, William Emanuel, Ronald Emanuel, William Horne, and Rodney Horne.
