Lois Hunt Obituary

Lois Rae Hunt of Roscoe, IL, passed away June 8, 2025 after a long illness. She was born and raised in Rockford. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and Auburn High School. Married William Hunt on July 24, 1982. She was a dedicated wife and stood by her husband of 43 years. Lois and her husband managed A American self storage for five years. There they enjoyed interacting with customers and nurturing their pet ducks. Together they enjoyed re-furnishing homes, one in Slidell, Louisiana and their current home in Roscoe. Prior to their home improvement days, they traveled extensively in their motor home seeing and meeting new friends across the United States. Upon her husband's retirement, they together embraced traveling abroad, seeing Greece, Italy, Rome, Egypt, Turkey, EngIand, and London just to mention a few, and taking the time to experience the finer things in life. Lois is survived by her husband, William Hunt; sons, Steve (Janet) Taylor, Jeff (Patti) Taylor; daughters, Roxanne (Paul) Pileggi, Toni Taylor; stepsons, Jim (Kari) Hunt, Dave Hunt, and Tom Hunt; step-daughter, Debbie Hunt; grandchildren, Kacie (Matt) Rutz, Scott (Kelly) Taylor, Maddie (Tommy) Palmer, Katherine Taylor, Allison Taylor (Tyler Kaberg), Brett Taylor, Jorey Taylor, Jamie Taylor, Amity Taylor, Alicia (Chris) Alvarez, and PauI Pileqgi; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Sjostrom; and special niece, JuIie (Roger) Roberts. Predeceased by her parents, Elwood and Florence Sjostrom; brothers, Robert and John Sjostrom; step-son, Steve Hunt; sister-in-law, Joyce Sjostrom; daughter, Amy Taylor; and her much loved Maitai. Lois and her family are deeply grateful for the compassionate care she received by her Machesney Park DaVita Kidney care team and her OSF home healthcare nurse, Brianna. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025 in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main St., Roscoe with a visitation from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
