Nancy Swain Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy J. Swain, who passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. Born in Beloit, WI, on September 27, 1950, Nancy was a lifelong resident of Northern Illinois, living out her golden years in Roscoe. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, whose compassionate nature and infectious positivity touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Nancy was a smart, empathetic woman, dedicated to her family and career. She was married to her devoted husband, Lawrence, on July 7, 1973, and together they raised their cherished daughter Amy. Nancy was not only a pillar of strength for her family but also for the community where she worked. As a CFO at the nonprofit children's residence, Goldie Floberg, Nancy dedicated 48 years of her life to the service of others. Her commitment and drive were recognized when she became the first recipient of the prestigious Paragon Award from Goldie Floberg, the agency's highest honor. Her retirement did not dim her spirit or her love for life. Nancy was a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and various golf and bowling leagues, indulging her hobbies with the same zest and passion she brought to her work. Outside of work, Nancy was a beacon of light. She loved planning trips, playing board games with family and friends, and golfing. She was also a keen shopper, adding a touch of style and elegance to all her outings. Nancy's love for her family was profound. She was survived by her loving husband, Lawrence Swain; her daughter, Amy, and son-in-law Brian Estvander; her grandchildren, Anna and Joey; and her siblings, Edward Gray and Marcie Coates. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marjorie Petrick. Nancy's legacy is one of love, empathy, and compassion, and her memory will continue to inspire us all. We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photographs of Nancy on the memorial page, as a tribute to this extraordinary woman. Her life was a testament to the power of positivity, and her radiant spirit will live on in our hearts forever. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday October 10, 2025 in McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton , IL. Her final resting place to be Rockton Township Cemetery.
