Carl attended school in Kentucky and later moved to Benton County, Indiana, where he met Ina Mae. Together they moved to Rockville in 1961, where they raised their family. Carl enjoyed driving the bus for away athletic games for many years, and one of the highlights of his time was driving during the 1987 boys' sectional basketball win. He also enjoyed driving grain trucks for local farmers. He was a faithful member of Faith Bible Church in Rockville.
