Scot Willis Obituary

Scot William Willis, a devoted family man, steadfast Christian, and passionate outdoorsman was called home to the Lord on September 29, 2025. Born on December 8, 1968, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Scot lived a life marked by dedication, integrity, and kindness. He departed this world in the serene surroundings of his home in Graysville, Indiana leaving behind a legacy of love and service. Scot was the cherished son of Jack William Willis and Nancy (Hamilton) Willis. His upbringing in the heartland instilled in him the values of hard work and faith which he carried throughout his life. Scot's educational journey led him to the University of Evansville, IN where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. While earning his degree Scot joined the Lamba Chi Fraternity to enhance his educational opportunities. This set the foundation for a remarkable career as a Mechanical Engineer at Hoosier Energy in Merom where he served with distinction for twenty-seven years. At home, Scot was a loving father to his children, Luke (Kayla), Carson, and Janae. He imparted to them the importance of family and the joy of living a life guided by Christian principles. Scot was a supportive brother to Peter Thomas and his sister-in-law Reetta Willis, sharing with them the bonds of family and faith. Scot's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a dedicated member of Kingsley Memorial Methodist Church in Fairbanks, IN, where he was an active member of the Choir and lived out his beliefs and served his community. His love for God was evident in his actions and his commitment to his church family. An avid hunter, Scot found solace and joy in the beauty of God's creation. Deer and Turkey were his quarry, and he pursued this passion with respect for nature and wildlife. His involvement with Ducks Unlimited and The National Wild Turkey Federation reflected his commitment to conservation and fellowship with fellow enthusiasts. He was a long-time member of Sullivan Elks Lodge #911 in Sullivan, IN. The quote, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven," from Ecclesiastes 3:1, resonated deeply with Scot. He understood that life was a tapestry of moments and seasons, each with its purpose and beauty. In his life, he embraced each season with faith and a heart full of grace and gratitude. Scot's journey on earth may have concluded, but his spirit and the love he shared will continue to inspire those who knew him. As we remember Scot we celebrate a life well-lived, a man of God who walked with dignity, and a soul now at peace in the eternal embrace of his Creator. The time of visitation will be held from 10:30 am EDT/9:30 CDT until 12:00 noon EDT/11:00 am CDT) on Saturday October 4, 2025 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Hutsonville, IL. Following the visitation Scot will be taken for a graveside service to the Mann-Turman-Prairie Cemetery, Turman Township, Graysville, IN. His pastor, Rev Eric Blevins, will lead the graveside service and all friends and family are encouraged to attend. The family suggests that memorial contributions for Scot be made to Ducks Unlimited/National Wild Turkey Federation for habitat and conservation efforts. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the cemetery for those who wish to donate in Scot's memory.
