Eddy Bennett Obituary

It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Eddy Gynn Bennett, a cherished soul who departed this life on February 4, 2025, on his 78th birthday. Born on February 4, 1947, in Ripley, Mississippi, Eddy was a beacon of joy and laughter, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in Hickory Flat, where he took his last breath surrounded by the warmth of his family.
Eddy's life was one of unwavering commitment and devotion, particularly to his beloved wife, Betty McCullough Bennett, who was the cornerstone of his happiness. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with mutual respect and admiration. As a father, Eddy was the epitome of strength and tenderness, guiding his two daughters, Michelle Hill (married to Marcus) and Kimberly Bennett, with wisdom and wit. His son, Kelly Bennett, will remember his father as a man of integrity and humor, a role model for how to live life fully. A sister, Rose Courson and brother, Ronnie Joe Bennett. Eddy was predeceased by his parents, L.Q. Bennett and Juanita Nutt Bennett, as well as his siblings, Maxine King, Patricia Jackson, Benny Harold, and Bobby Arnold Bennett.
Eddy proudly served our nation in the Army, a testament to his bravery and patriotic spirit. His professional life was marked by a long and fulfilling career as a construction and heavy machine operator at Reel Neet Corrosion Company, where he was respected for his skill and dedication. Eddy's colleagues will remember him as a man who could lighten the toughest days with his infectious humor and easygoing nature.
Away from work, Eddy was known to be a consummate jokester, never missing an opportunity to bring a smile to the faces of his family and friends. His love for catfish fishing and hunting spoke to his adventurous spirit, and these activities provided countless stories that he delighted in sharing with anyone who would listen. Eddy was a man who adored his family above all else, and he was a doting grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with love, laughter, and memorable adventures.
Those who knew Eddy would describe him as loving, funny, and adventurous. His approach to life was to embrace each moment with enthusiasm and a sense of curiosity. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was a successful catch on a fishing trip or the laughter of his grandchildren during family gatherings.
Eddy's life will be celebrated in a manner that honors the joy and love he brought into this world. As we gather to remember him, let us hold dear the memories we shared and keep alive the laughter and warmth he spread so effortlessly. Our world was undeniably brighter with Eddy in it, and his light will continue to shine in our hearts forever
